Tips for a Healthy Skin
The aging process is tough enough yet there are many people that suffer from premature aging. A person in their early 30s should not show signs of wrinkles but many of them do. It is possible for older people to have firm and soft skin if they take care of themselves properly. There are six tips to prevent the signs of premature aging and help keep skin firm looking for a longer period of time.
1. Do Not Worship the Sun
While many people enjoy tanning direct sunlight and the rays from the sun are bad for the skin. The sun can dry out the skin causing the tendons to become delicate and the elasticity to be decreased. When a person goes out into the sun they need to take measure to protect themselves. A person should wear sunscreen with an SPF of at least 15. It should be applied at least 20 minutes before going out into the sun and reapplied often. A wide brimmed hat and sunglasses will also help protect the body from exposure to the harmful rays. The tanning bed is just as bad as the sun and should be avoided for younger looking skin.
2. Smoking is Bad
Not only are cigarettes bad for health but they are bad for the skin as well. Smoking is one of the biggest causes of premature aging. Smoking allows toxins into the skin and dries it out as well. This causes the skin to sag and wrinkles to form. People who quit smoking even at an older age will see improvement in their skin. They will see that less wrinkles form and their skin tone will begin to even out.
3. Drink Water, Lots of It
Drinking eight to ten glasses of water a day can give the skin the hydration that is needs. If the skin is hydrated the elasticity is improve causing less wrinkles. Water will also reduce the amount of toxins that are in the body allowing the skin to stay firm.
4. Moisturize
The body loses moisture very easily through perspiration and other natural functions. In order to make sure the skin is hydrated enough a moisturizer should be applied on a daily basis. The moisturize will help replenish the natural oils in the skin and help repair the cells. When selecting a moisturizer look for one that is not greasy and contains all natural products such as Vitamin E.
5. Exercise on a Regular Basis
Exercise is not only good to keep the body in shape and prevent fat from building up. It is good for the skin as well. In order to stay healthy the muscles in the body have to be used often. Exercising at least four times a week will help improve the elasticity of the skin. If the skin has good elasticity there is less of a chance for wrinkles to develop. This includes exercising the muscles on the face. There are many exercises that work out the muscles around the eyes, mouth, and cheeks. Anti-aging yoga exercises can also be beneficial, as these only takes couple of hours to do and can result in firmer and less wrinkled skin.
6. Practice Proper Facial Care
Cleaning the face to remove extra oil is very important. Sometimes when a person washes their face the do more harm them good. Scrubbing the face too hard can remove the natural oils from the skin. These oils help the skin regenerate. When washing the face wash in a circular motion which will improve the blood flow to the cells and keep the natural oils in. When a person has a pimple they may be tempted to pop or pick at it. This is one of the worst things for the skin. Squeezing will allow the bacteria from the acne to spread to the rest of the face and allow scars to form. Damaged skin leads to wrinkles.
