Lush, sweeping, luxurious eyelashes are the envy of many, and for justifiable reasons. Thick, long eyelashes brighten and enliven the eyes, making those little, sparkling diamonds gleam gloriously.

Know, however, that not every pair of eyelashes you envy is real. Doubt no more; you can grow thick, attractive eyelashes too! All you need is a little bit of know-how and lots of regular practice to make sure you are getting the eyelashes you’ve been eyeing for so long.

Strutting out the sexiest, curliest eyelashes takes just six very simple steps to take your eyes from plain to extraordinary.

Tip No. 1: Curl your eyelashes. It doesn’t matter whether you have eyelashes that are naturally long or too short. Whatever length your eyelashes come in, it’s always a good habit to grab an eye curler and take some time to give those tiny strands a bit of flare.

First, make sure that your eye curler is not sharp-edged. Always choose one that is lined with rubber. Try it out on a few strands of your hair just to make sure they don’t cut. Once you’re certain you won’t get your eyelashes trimmed, take the curling to your eyelashes. Start from the base of your eyelashes. Squeeze the curler. Gradually open and squeeze as you gently pull up until you reach the tips of your eyelashes.

Tip No. 2: Use a primer or, apply petroleum jelly on both top and bottom of your eyelashes. Always use a primer before putting on a mascara. A primer is like a gel that helps hold the curl and shape of your eyelashes. It also coats your eyelashes, helping to ensure that your mascara is well distributed when applied. In case an eyelash primer is not within reach or, if you happen to run out of supply, a petroleum jelly can do the trick. Simply dip your index finger into the petroleum jelly bottle or, use an eyelash brush from an empty primer, to apply a small amount of petroleum jelly on your eyelashes. Apply on top of the eyelashes then, do the same for the under part. Leave on and let dry for a few minutes then, pat out any excess petroleum jelly.

Tip No. 3: Apply a thick, volumizing, waterproof mascara. Give your eyelashes instant thickness and flare. Reach for a no smudge mascara. Starting from your eyelids, slowly move your mascara brush towards the tip of your eyelashes, carefully noting and brushing in the direction of the hair. With your mascara brush in a vertical position, apply mascara on eyelashes on the innermost and outermost parts of your eyes. Apply your mascara both on top and under part of your eyelashes.

Tip No. 4: Try fake eyelashes. For a more dramatic eyelash transformation, try fake eyelashes. There are ways to make them look, well, not fake. First, choose fake eyelashes that are of the same color as your natural eyelashes. Then, decide as to the thickness and length you would like. If you feel that your fake eyelashes are too long, trim them before gluing them on your eyelids. Next, take an eyelash glue and line the back of your hand with a thin film. Take your eyelash and carefully slide the base on the thin film you have created then gently attach to your eyelids. Let it dry for a few minutes before continuing to apply your eye makeup.
Once your fake eyelashes are firmly glued to your eyelids, line your eyelids with a liquid eyeliner to hide the gap between your lids and your fake eyelashes.

Tip No. 5: Find an eyelash enhancer that suits you and religiously apply it at the base of your eyelashes. If you want naturally looking eyelashes, the only way to get one is to grow your own eyelashes. Try an eyelash enhancer and apply religiously, closely following the manufacturer’s instructions. An eyelash enhancer is intended as a treatment that penetrates deep down the skin beneath your eyelids to stimulate hair follicles to produce hair more rapidly and in larger volumes. Eyelash enhancers therefore are easily absorbed by your skin, and are not meant to substitute mascara but both should safely complement each other.

Tip No. 6: Completely and gently remove eye make up at the end of the day. If you want better looking eyelashes, nothing can beat a daily dose of TLC. Gently and thoroughly remove your mascara, fake eyelashes, and other make up at the end of the day. Gently wipe away eye make up with a makeup remover to avoid unnecessarily pulling out your eyelashes.

Great looking eyes take some work and attention to deserve a second look. Yet, quick fixes are not enough to give your eyelashes a lasting sex appeal but daily eye care will.
